On Saturday, June 13th, Double Happiness and SALT artspace are hosting a day-long goodmeet for people and organizations that provide sanctuary in NYC.
The hustle and grind of New York City is legend…the city is loud, it is fast, and it is crowded. Add the stress of living in a historic period of economic unrest, rising unemployment, shrinking retirement plans, and the lack of health insurance – and life becomes overwhelming. There is a need for sanctuary in New York City.
There is comfort in coming together, regrouping, and being refreshed to face life’s challenges. Goodmeet @ Salt will bring together leaders and innovators in a marketplace of ideas. We will help these leaders self-organizes to innovate, share knowledge, and to prioritize relevant issues and questions. Goodmeet @ Salt offers these busy leaders a sanctuary themselves – a chance to reflect, collaborate, and then return to work refreshed and invigorated.
Format: This Goodmeet @ SALT will be formatted as a day-long, participant-driven event based on Open Space Technology.
During the first hour, the participants will be facilitated in a simple process that will populate a blank schedule with sessions for the day. We will create sessions out of your burning questions and topics related to the theme of sanctuary.
Participants are asked come on-time and encouraged to stay the entire day to maintain the integrity of the group.
This event is not for everyone – it is for participants not spectators, producers more than consumers, the curious rather than the passive.
Who is invited: Creatives who envision sanctuaries; designers and architects that design sanctuaries; entrepreneurs who invest in products and services that provide sanctuary; administrators that manage sanctuaries; politicians that legislate for sanctuary; naturalists who find sanctuary outdoors; foodies who find sanctuary in the kitchen; and any of us who are seeking refuge from the hustle of the city and the pressures of the economic downturn.
How To Prepare: You don't have to prepare in any formal way...but you can. Everyone who attends is encouraged to bring questions and topics related to the theme of “sanctuary”. These questions/topics are the foundation of the event and participants are encouraged to bring one or many topics. We will focus your passion and ask you take responsibility for getting your questions answered and your topics addressed.
Please participate by helping us spread the word about the event. Blog about the event, email your friends, twitter away.
What to bring: Burning questions, knowledge to share, laptops, workshops, presentations, business cards, inventions, posters, notebooks, games, generosity, curiosity...
What is available: There are two large gallery spaces that can be reconfigured to different sessions needs. You will also be able to go to the roof. There is one flat screen TV and one projector available for use. There will be WiFi available.
